Back bay, beacon hill & midtown

The Back Bay of Boston is an upscale neighborhood with townhouses, skyscrapers, and high-end shopping along Newbury and Boylston Streets. The Back Bay is considered by many to be one of the more active parts of the city. The Back Bay is where you'll find Boston's two tallest skyscrapers, The Prudential Tower and the John Hancock Tower, as well as The Boston Public Library, Copley Square, Trinity Church, and The Old South Church. The name "Back Bay" is derived from the fact that the area was actually a bay of water before it was filled in starting in 1857. This filling-in completed much of modern Boston, including Kenmore Square and the Fenway area and more than doubled the size of Boston.

Boston's Back Bay is adjacent to the Boston Public Garden and is also home to some of Boston's ritziest hotels. There are several public transportation hubs in the Back Bay, most notably the Green Line's Copley Station, Prudential Center, and the Orange Line's Back Bay. More about Back Bay.

Beacon Hill is a 19th-century downtown Boston residential neighborhood situated directly north of the Boston Common and the Boston Public Garden. Most people think of city living as anonymous and isolating. But this cozy enclave, filled with nearly 10,000 people, is more like a village than an anonymous city. It has a rich community life, with neighbors knowing neighbors and everyone meeting on the Hill's commercial streets and at its myriad activities. More about Beacon Hill.

Midtown is simply the area between the flat of the hill and the top of the hill, connecting Back Bay to Beacon Hill and the Financial District to Downtown Crossing. It is bordered by the Boston Common and Tremont Street where there are various restaurants and apartments available.

Some of our featured apartments for rent in Back Bay, Beacon Hill, & Midtown include: The Devonshire (1 Devonshire Pl), Archstone Boston Common (660 Washington St), The Greenhouse (150 Huntington St).
